  Catherine Lui, a senior associate in the San Francisco office, is a member of the Trade Secrets Group. Ms. Lui's practice focuses on trade secret litigation, complex commercial litigation matters, antitrust and competition issues, patent litigation, and white collar defense and investigations.

Ms. Lui's notable engagements include the following.

Represented a medical equipment manufacturer in successfully obtaining a preliminary injunction against its biggest competitor in a trade secrets action.
Represented a financial services company in successfully obtaining a preliminary injunction against a former employee who misappropriated trade secrets.
Represented Nanya Technology Corporation and Nanya Technology Corporation USA in DRAM antitrust price-fixing cases, including actions brought by direct and indirect purchasers, U.S. government entities, and the European Commission.
Represented Nanya Technology Corporation in patent infringement defense before Northern District of California and International Trade Commission.
Represented an IT solutions provider in multi-million dollar trade secret misappropriation and breach of loyalty litigation.
Represented auto lights manufacturer in civil antitrust class action price-fixing litigation.
Represented audit committee of high-tech company in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act internal investigation.
Represented audit committee of semiconductor company in stock options back-dating internal investigation.

Ms. Lui also dedicates a significant amount of time to pro bono matters. In a 2007 asylum merits hearing, she successfully represented a Salvadoran religious activist who was persecuted by gangs that dominate El Salvador. For her work on this matter, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights awarded Ms. Lui the Father Cuchulain Moriarity Award in 2009.

For more than six years, Ms. Lui has coached a local high school, School of the Arts, in the San Francisco mock trial competition. In 2008-2011, School of the Arts won the San Francisco City and County Mock Trial competition, which is administered by the Bar Association of San Francisco. In 2010, the team placed second at the statewide competition.
