  Venessa Henlon is a partner in the firm's Real Estate & Land Use Practice Group. She represents property owners and tenants ranging from individuals to Fortune 500 companies in various real estate transactions including property acquisition, disposition and leasing matters. In addition to her expertise in traditional commercial real estate transactions, Venessa brings a deep understanding of the issues facing developers and public entities in public/private transactions, initially acquired in her prior roles representing the former San Francisco Redevelopment Agency and the City and County of San Francisco as a San Francisco Deputy City Attorney, and broadened in her representation of The Exploratorium in its development and lease of Piers 15-17 in San Francisco and the 49ers in the development of Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Prior to joining the San Francisco City Attorney's Office, Venessa was a real estate attorney at the law firms of Morrison & Foerster LLP and Steefel, Levitt & Weiss where she represented governmental agencies, developers, financial institutions and real estate owners and tenants in a wide variety of real estate matters.

Professional Activities

Venessa is a member of the Real Property Section of the California State Bar and the Bar Association of San Francisco where she served as a volunteer arbitrator for fee dispute matters. She served as a volunteer mediator for SEEDS Community Resolution Center and is a member of the Board of Directors of the East Bay Community Law Center.


Venessa received her undergraduate degree in International Relations from Stanford University (1990), and earned her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) (1995).
