INSIDE DIVERSITY VI

JOIN THE CONVERSATION IMPLICIT BIAS IN THE WORKPLACE

We all like to think that we treat our colleagues fairly and objectively, but the truth is that, whether or not we acknowledge it, we are all influenced by implicit biases. How do we recognize implicit bias? How do our implicit biases influence our relationships at work? How can colleagues get past their biases and build effective work teams?

DLA Piper, ACC-SoCal and California Minority Counsel Program (CMCP) invite you to an evening of open dialog examining the influence of implicit bias in the workplace. Professor Jerry Kang of the UCLA School of Law will open the discussion with an overview of his research on how implicit bias influences the choices we make at work, especially on the ways we build teams and work together. Our panel will then lead a dialog covering recommendations for the implementation of Professor Kang’s research in the workplace and best practices you can take back to your organization. The conversation will be followed by presentation of the 2013 Profiles IN Diversity Award and a networking reception.
