Netflix & Roku Successfully Defend Patent Lawsuit

In a decision issued last week by the International Trade Commission, Netflix Inc. and Roku Inc. were cleared of patent infringement claims brought by Rovi Corp. and its subsidiaries. Digital entertainment company Rovi Corp. alleged that the Netflix and Roku streaming products infringed Rovi’s digital parental control and program guide technology. The International Trade Commission largely affirmed a non-infringement ruling by one of its administrative law judges. Netflix and Roku were represented by Keker & Van Nest LLP partner Ashok Ramani and a Perkins Coie LLP team that included Bay Area attorneys Bobbie Wilson and Chris Kao.
