  M'Alyssa Mecenas is an associate in the Employment Law practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.

As an attorney in the firm’s Global Compensation, Benefits, and ERISA practice, Ms. Mecenas advises clients in the design, implementation, amendment, operation, and termination of various retirement, health, incentive, and welfare plans. She litigates both single-plaintiff and class action cases under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), and has prepared successful dispositive motions before federal courts. In her transactional benefits practice, she has analyzed potential risks related to employee benefits, executive compensation, labor, and employment in international and domestic transactions valued from about $60 million to over $7.1 billion.

Ms. Mecenas is a member of the State Bar of California. She is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Central District Court of California, the Northern District Court of California, and the Southern District Court of California.

Ms. Mecenas graduated from Berkeley Law School (U.C. Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law) in 2010, where she served as Articles Editor for the California Law Review, Executive Editor for the Berkeley Business Law Journal, and Treasurer for the Pilipino American Law Society. She received the Advocacy Award in her first year and competed in the McBaine Honors Moot Court Competition.

She received her B.A. in English in 2007 from the University of Southern California, cum laude, with department honors. She was a National Merit Scholar and USC Presidential Scholar, and received the Virginia C. Middleton Creative Writing Prize for best short fiction.
