ABA Forum on the Construction Industry’s Scholarship to Attend the Annual Meeting
April 25 -27, 2013, at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, in Dana Point, CA
The ABA Forum on the Construction Industry is a nationwide array of construction lawyers and professionals.  Our focus is "People Programs and Publications,” and we provide unequalled opportunities to learn from top industry professionals and exchange ideas with colleagues from around the country and beyond.  Each year the Forum presents three national programs to provide up to date information on issues of importance in construction law.  This year the Forum’s Annual Meeting will be held on April, 25-27 at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, in Dana Point, California.
This program will focus on the future of construction law.  We open with a look at how emerging hi-technology applications such as robotics, and modular construction are helping the industry improve efficiency and productivity.  We will examine preference programs in public contracting—will this trend continue—and we’ll look at the future of construction insurance and bonding.  Our annual recognition of accomplishments and appointment of new leadership will occupy the Thursday luncheon.  There is no more inspiring way to be introduced to the Forum.  We will look at new technology tools for your practice, and how new technologies are revolutionizing project bidding, negotiations, documentation and management.  We round out the first day with a look at the future of the construction workforce.
On Friday we take a hard look at changes in the practice of construction law, and we’ll offer suggestions of how to thrive in this changing market-place.  We’ll examine the impact of globalization on construction dispute resolution, and move on to the trial time machine—the future of preserving, finding, and presenting construction project data at trial.  You will have a wide array of luncheon programs to choose from put on by the Forum Divisions.  The afternoon is free.
Saturday morning begins with a discussion of ethical business development and a number of ethical workshops.  The program then closes with the ultimate in future, techie, and cool—a presentation about the building of the International Space Station.  Astronaut Dr. David A. Wolf will share his insights about building in a weightless environment at 17,000 mph with 500 degree temperature excursions.
The Forum is pleased to announce the availability of up to six scholarships for local women and minority construction attorneys.   Individuals wishing to be considered as a candidate for a scholarship should submit a copy of their resume and a brief letter describing their construction law practice.  Applications are due no later than April 8, 2013.  If selected, candidates must commit to attend the full program on April 25-27, 2013.  Scholarships are not transferable.  The Program scholarship includes:
•  admission to the Program with waiver of the registration fee;
•  a set of Program course materials;
•  continental breakfast on Thursday and lunch on Thursday;
