CMCP in History
Celebrating 25 Years of Creating Access & Opportunity
Raymond Alvarado not only participated in CMCP himself, but he created a culture of diversity, inclusion and dedication to CMCP within the firm he founded, today known as AlvaradoSmith.

In the words of CMCP Co-Founder Guy Rounsaville, Jr. on Ray's retirement: "He left a big imprint on CMCP just as he has on your good firm. He did so by valuing people above all. They say one measure of a person is the number of people you have helped in one way or another. By that measure Ray is a giant."
From CMCP 1996 Annual Report...
Minority Law Firm Benefit Story
An age-old business problem for smaller law firms, and particularly minority-owned law firms, has been approaching and gaining access to in-house counsel of legal departments at Fortune 500 companies and other large institutions. Having an opportunity to provide them legal services may be an even greater challenge. Such difficulties, however, can be addressed through membership in CMCP.

Members of the CMCP benefit through increased opportunities for attorneys of color at minority- and majority-owned law firms to build relationships with in-house counsel and other key personnel. Indeed, the growing success of the CMCP has resulted from expanded opportunities and productive business relations created and maintained between corporate and law firm members alike. As a member for the past several years, Alvarado, Smith, Villa & Sanchez has benefited from relationship building opportunities afforded through the CMCP on a professional and personal level. The membership benefits of the CMCP have afforded the Firm greater access to corporate legal departments that otherwise might not have been available.

Bar association participation is a great way to develop consensus-building skills, shape bar policies, have a voice in the legal community, and just have fun working with other great ACBA members. This year, the Board has identified two priority areas for new board candidates:
